69 Dodge Charger in Tripple Black

How many times have you seen the Dodge charger in movies? The motivation for my post today is, I saw the film Drive Angry last night. In a nutshell it’s about a poor excuse for a father that escapes from hell (Nicolas Cage) and with the help of a hot girl named Piper (Amber Heard) chases after the people from a cult organization that killed his estranged Daughter and kidnapped his favorite grandchild.

I was definitely entertained by the movie and overall was pleasantly surprised by some interesting twist and turns (no driving pun intended). Not surprising, when the movie title is drive angry, there was plenty of muscle cars and chase scenes. In my opinion the real star of the movie was a black 1969 Dodge charger with a 440 C.I.D. big block. The beautiful music of the 440 was well done (possibly the actual engine) and more realistic than soundtracks that are added to other movies staring Dodge chargers.

Here’s two informational links that will open a new window. This is the IMDB report on the Movie. If you want see it now you can get it 4 ways (Instant, DVD, Blue Ray, Blue Ray 3d) at Amazon. You can watch Drive Angry right now. After the charger was beaten and destroyed, Nicolas Cage jumped in a 1970 454 Chevelle that was also entertaining. It got me to thinking just how many movies and TV shows have featured the Sixty Nine and 70 2-door Mopar muscle car.

I was also thinking about how often this vehicle has been destroyed on the silver screen for my entertainment. You would think by now they would start running very low on this particular model of muscle car. It also makes you wonder about the value of any remaining chargers and how it has been affected. I have seen this car go for well over $100,000 in Barrett Jackson auctions. Even in poor condition this car is still fetching 20 or $30,000 on e-bay.

Movies starring the Dodge charger

70 R/T Charger

One of the first movies I remember seeing the car in was Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry (available below). Then I saw it again in the 80s classic Christine. Although Christine was a 1957 Plymouth fury the good guy drove a 1970 charger blue in color with a black vinyl top and chrome five spoke Craggier wheels. Even though this car was not the star of the movie in my opinion it was the most attractive.

Of course several of the Fast and Furious movies also featured the Mopar muscle car of the 70s. I was not a big fan of the fast and furious movies mainly because a lot of the footage seemed unrealistic and over edited. The soundtrack also did not seem accurate. Here is a video of the actual Vin Diesel autographed car from the movie that shows how the fake blower was mounted to the hood. I understand the magic of Hollywood but to do this to a big block mopar is sacrilegious (my opinion).

Charger 500 with Factory Mags

Of course there was the Quentin Tarantino classic Grind house with Kurt Russell in the sub story of Death proof. Kurt drove a black primer 1969 Dodge Charger that was being pursued by the vanishing point challenger (full of angry women). I can’t remember if the white challenger was a 426 Hemi or 440 but the chase scenes in this movie where extended scenes and very entertaining.

In the film I just saw yesterday (On Demand) Drive Angry, the Charger was in a large percentage of the movie overall as well. It had a black satin finish and this vehicle always looks good in black. In fact it might be the best color for this body style. What do you think is the best color for this car (comment below)? For the Picture Police: the pictures on this page are either old car show photos Taken with a disposable camera 20 years ago or from the wiki page with all rights released.

Are there any Chargers left?

69 General Lee Charger

Of course this vehicle was used in the Dukes of Hazard and many of these cars were destroyed in the making of the movies and television episodes. The 69 and 70 were both used throughout various episodes and movies that starred both the original characters from the television show and of course the latest movie with Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke.

There were a few other television shows that used this car as the automotive star. I ‘m drawing a blank on a couple of the one season-long shows that used it. Can you help me out and leave some comments at the bottom about the TV shows and movies that starred the 69 & 1970 Dodge charger that I Forgot to talk about?

Yes I wanted a Charger. My first car was a 1974 b-body Chrysler. We (Me and my Dad) went to look at a 1970 R/T that was an original numbers matching 440 4speed car with the pistol grip shifter. The owner took us for a crazy test drive and my Dad said no way. He thought the car would kill me. So I wound up with the 74 that had a 318 cubic inch mouse motor. This post was a little off topic as I usually discuss more technical auto repair information here on the auto repair information blog. You can see more stories I have written about Fast Cars on the Auto-facts.org site.

Recalled Ford f-150

This is a quick article on how to check for ford recalls on any year or model Ford car or truck. It use to be if you really wanted to find out if there was an open recall due on your vehicle one had to stop by a dealership and get the service adviser to plug the V.I.N or vehicle identification number into the Ford oasis system.

VIN numbers are unique 17-digit serial numbers assigned to all mass produced automobiles. Ford oasis stands for On-Line Automotive Service Information System. When you enter a specific vehicle identification number this system provides a printable report about work performed under warranty and any recalls that where already done. More importantly the report includes any recalls that are still open on that vehicle.

I worked at a Lincoln Mercury dealer as a service adviser for a short time and found this tool extremely helpful. After writing an article recently on my other website about the Ford cruise control recall which I believe is the largest recall in the company’s history, I found out that there is an alternative for owners to plug in the vehicle identification number themselves online to see if there’s any open recalls on that car or truck.

This works for all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury publicly issued recall notices. So without further delay this is where you can check for ford recalls. That text link will take you to Ford’s main website in the exact spot where there is an open box to install your 17 digit vehicle identification number. At this point I am unclear if this is as accurate as the oasis system mentioned above. So I would consider this a quick check that can be done for convenience.

If the results return no open ford recalls I would still double check with the dealership when you have time. You can just approach a service writer with your vehicle registration which should have the same number on it and he will plug it in for you and run the official Ford oasis report on the automobile. If this report also says that there are no open recalls you can rest assure that nothing needs to be done to your vehicle. Sidebar: All three vehicles pictured on this page had open recalls on them.

Why check for ford recalls

Recalled Ford Truck

The article that I wrote on my other website which I’ve linked to from above discusses what is believed to be Ford’s largest recall in the history of their company. It is for a problem with the cruise control knock off switch that is mounted in the brake master cylinder. This switch has been reported to leak brake fluid causing a short.

This electrical short can start a fire that can engulf the engine compartment. What brought this situation to the attention of authorities was in more than one case the vehicle was parked in the house garage at the time. The fire spread to these homes and did severe damage.

Recalled Lincoln Town Car

In most cases a company will only issue a recall of that is related to safety. When I worked for General Motors there was several recalls for seat belt repairs. When I worked for ford I found several recalls that related to vehicle braking systems. Therefore checking for open recalls on your Ford vehicle should be considered an important thing to do.

Often when a vehicle has been sold and repurchased several times the factory will have no way to contact the current owner. If you buy this vehicle private sale or from a used car lot you will have to check for ford recalls yourself. This is another reason why you will find new recalls talked about or discussed on television stations or automotive news outlets. This is an effort to get the word out that repairs need to be done.

On a related note there are several recalls on Ford trucks. I wrote a page that discusses several of these recalls and what is involved in the repairs. Also on that page is an interesting story about the 7.3 L super duty that is capable of putting on record-breaking amounts of mileage. When the vehicle is around for 350,000 miles checking for ford recalls is even more important. For more articles from the mind of Master tech Mark this next link will take you back to the auto repair information blog home page.

How many people do you know who have bought a new car, driven it off the lot, and then felt like a chump because the car dealer pushed them into an impulse buy?

They made a deal and didn’t realize until the paperwork was signed that they had been taken.

There are at least three things you can do to position yourself to make a better car purchase: Plan ahead, pre-arrange your own financing, and choose the right time to buy a new car. The following are some good car buying tips for women and men.

New car payments

Next to your mortgage, a new vehicle is among the largest single purchases you will make in a lifetime. Yet, most people buy their new car out of impulse, not careful planning.

Plan ahead and know what kind of vehicle you want and how much you are willing to spend.

This can be a big difference in riding off in your dream car, or being bullied into buying the salesman’s dream.

When dealerships offer “financing packages” they are really trying to sell you another product in addition to the car. So many people wander into a car dealership not knowing what their credit score is like.

This immediately gives the dealer the upper hand. Know your credit and arrange financing with your own bank. This will put you in a better bargaining position.

Timing is also important when it comes to buying a new vehicle. Car dealerships live under the pressure of sales cycles. They are pressured to produce, more so at certain times than others. Understanding these time cycles can help you use them to your advantage in buying a car.

When you look at any car buying for dummies, you’ll find that the best time to buy is at the end of the month, and in the fall before new care models come out.

The brand new Ford Fiesta seems like a good choice for the earth friendly or ecologically aware car owner. It is an agile yet quite capable small car that can fit up to 5 people and can get over 59 miles per gallon.

This new release automobile has one overpowering negative fact. It is not sold in the United states or Canada. It would seem the Fiesta has what it takes to compete with other fuel efficient cars in the US, too bad Ford will only sell it across the pond.

The only reason the President of Ford gave for not selling this car in America is that it would be too pricey to import. Therefore the decision has been made for the Ford Fiesta to take a siesta in the US marketplace.

The main reason for this selective selling is that Fords Fiesta runs on diesel fuel and the North American population does not care for this type of fuel. America’s opposition to diesel fuel is because it still often reminds us of a loud and stinky truck or tractor trailer pouring out black junk, smog, and smoke into our environment.

Diesel fueled cars are now introduced in the market with pollution fighting technology that is as clean as or even cleaner than gasoline with 30% more fuel efficiency. So why can’t the US have this 65mpg car on our market? Mistakenly it is Ford’s belief that the US car buyers won’t buy a diesel.

The Fiesta ECO-netic engine is comparable to European diesels but Ford can’t make a business case for bringing the car to the US.

In addition, the Fiesta is made in Britain and importing the car to the US would cost too much money without a profit and Ford doesn’t believe they can charge enough to make any money.

The main problem is will American’s ever see Diesel as an alternative to regular gas, enought so that car makers will make a profit on Diesel cars? Volkswagen has been selling diesel cars in American for quite some time now.

The Jetta costs about what the Fiesta would cost, gets only 41 MPG on the highway as compared to the Fiesta’s 65 MPG, and finally the Jetta has received numerous accolades for being an ultra green car. Volkswagen is loving the fact that there is not other diesel passenger car to compete with.

Lets just say you had to pick out a new subcompact car. I promise not to hold you to it. Just wondering if you were in the market, which one of these models would make you sign on the dotted line?

Please leave your selection and why you think its a winner in the comments area. You can also say you would rather walk if you would never own one.

Why should you take the time to care about the small car market? With gas prices on the rise again, many people are jumping from their sport utility vehicles and into small subcompact cars.

As long as the gas price roller coaster rides keep happening, these car buyers will surrender their bigger vehicles for the compact cars. Until one day the tiny car will be in the majority of registered vehicles.

Is there an appeal to the small cars other than the gas savings? Absolutely! The cheap feel associated to subcompacts of decades ago is not the case today, as even today’s subcompacts are similar in size to the cars from that era.

What offerings are out there for subcompacts today? Keep reading to see the four main front runners in the subcompact scene, including the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Yaris and last but not least the Nissan Versa.

09 Honda Fit

The Honda Fit becomes a favorite in the new subcompact car game with its 1.5 liter engine, great fuel economy and Honda reliability. It comes in two different styles.

The 2005-2008 Model which has a more boxy shape and the 2009+ Fit that is more curvy and cute.

The Honda Fit draws criticism good and bad, as with it’s styling you have more so a Love or Hate relationship. Interior wise is going to be more of a favorite for many.

Offering a magic seat and loads of space the interior does not have the stigma of cheap and small. As the styling suggests, it does have the Mini Minivan look, but for the price you are getting a great value.

2009 Hyundai Accent

Hyundai has created a much nicer looking subcompact with it’s redesign of the Accent. With the exterior having a more traditional round hat like styling, the Hyundai is a winner for most in the styling department.

The interior plays well, but is inferior to that of the Honda Fit. Those interested in the manual version of this car may find the gearbox slightly uncomfortable, but the automatic will likely be the preferred purchase here.

With deals starting at $10,000 for this car, you simply can not go wrong.

2009 Toyota Yaris

The sharpest of all four sub compact cars is the offering by Toyota. The Yaris is very curvy and a short length giving it that sharp style. The 09 sedan model is pictured on the left.

The Yaris holds its own in power within the category, and does catch the customers eye. The one drawback to this subcompact car is the center stack console.

With the yaris, your speedometer is dead center, like the mini cooper, instead of in front of you after your steering wheel.

This could be a deal breaker to some who are accustomed to the traditional location. The interior does have a slightly cheaper feel, but the price reflects this and overall is a great price for your dollar.

09 Nissan Versa

The last of the four main contenders in the subcompact race is the Nissan Versa. A car styled by its Renault roots, you have a heaver subcompact with more power offerings than the other two.

Of all the subcompacts, this car moves out the best with its 1.8 Liter engine. Although this does not help in the gas savings side of the equation.

Also the Versa’s styling is more European, and might lose out on some customers because of this.

The new subcompact car market is exploding right now. But these Popular brand names remain the most popular at the time of this writing.

People know and trust these specific manufactures with the task of making small cars. which one do you think is making the best all around vehicle?

You can find your way back to this blogs home page for more auto repair information.

The Audi Q7 is not only a great sports utility vehicle but has also turned into a fantastic platform for testing new automotive technology.

The Designers at Audi have been able to plug many already successful components from the A6 into this flexible SUV platform. A great Audi Q7 video has been added at the end of this short post for your viewing pleasure.

By iCar Automotive News

The Audi Q7 is giant. It is much wider, longer and even taller than the Volkswagen Tuareg. You will have to be careful with the large rear doors that need to be opened carefully in tight parking spots. The back of the Q7 is very elegant with flush-mounted tail lights and smooth European flowing body lines.

The Audi Q7, the company presented at the Shanghai Car Show has a different updated look. But not only the exterior has changed, technically the car has undergone some changes too.

The fuel consumption is reduced on all the models. The press release talks about the fact that the new Audi is also available with the cleanest diesel technology in the world, the TDI clean diesel.

What’s changed? The grille is the most significant one. The new models come with vertical bars with high chrome finish that gives the German Suv an extra luxury look. The bottom section may be painted in black or gray and the bumpers were changed. When the lights go on the street lights up in cool blue glow.

This is because the Audi Q7 is equipped with Xenon lighting. Also an optional adaptive system with Xenon lights is offered. This means the headlights rotate with the steering angle. All around, the new Audi is equipped with the latest LED lighting for an impressive image at night.

Extra Audi efficiency

All gasoline and diesel engines for the new Audi Q7 have direct fuel injection. The same goes for the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI clean diesel. The 3.0-liter V6 TDI has a De-NOx catalyst with Ad Blue injection. It’s Ad Blue additive ensures that nitrogen oxide is converted into harmless nitrogen and oxygen.

The exhaust system ensures that the Audi TDI meets the strictest emission standards in the world, which is expected in September 2014 takes effect. The Audi Q7 Clean diesel fuel allows an average of 8.9 l/100 km in fuel consumption.

The other engines available for the Audi Q7 are also more efficient. Mainly because of the recovery system that convert mechanical brake and roll energy into electrical energy and stored in the battery. This system provides a lower fuel consumption and therefore lower CO2 emissions (reduction up to 5 g / km).

The 3.0 TDI with 176 kW/240 hp is satisfied with 9.1 l/100 km. Audi Q7 4.2 TDI (250 kW/340 hp) rides on an average of 9.9 l/100 km (was 11.1 l/100 km). The Audi Q7 V 12 TDI (with a power of 368 kW/500 hp) consumes 11.3 l/100km.

The average consumption of the 3.6 FSI petrol version (206 kW/280 hp) is 12.1 l/100 km and the 4.2 FSI V8 is 12.7 l/100 km.

The standard of luxury and top comfort on this Audi. Through the six speed tipronic transmission you control the Quattro permanent four-wheel drive, you have got electronic air conditioning and a good hi end audio system. And if you are not yet fully satisfied, you can opt into a B & O sound system, complete with infotainment system for your navigation, telephone and music.

Audi Q7 4.2 TDI and 6.0 TDI has adaptive air suspension with three preset modes standard. Options like ceramic disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, Audi lane assist, the Audi parking system and comfort seats are made available.

The Q model has also provided a solid platform for Hybrid suv testing and development. One of the most environmentally friendly features of the Audi Q7 Hybrid is a set of solar panels embedded into its (Open Sky) sunroof.

The solar panels provide power for the electronic air conditioning system. This allows the sun’s energy to be converted into a very efficient interior cooling system. The car ac system on the Q7 hybrid has been switched over from hydraulic to electrical operation.

I have some final thoughts about the big three bailout. President George Bush stepped in and awarded a $17.4 billion dollar bridge loan to Chrysler and General Motors. Ford stated that they would like a $9 billion dollar line of credit, but this was declined, because Ford should have enough money to get through the first quarter of 2009. Kudos to Ford Motor Company for being in better financial conditions than the other two.

Save the Big Three

So this bridge loan should hold both failing American car manufacturers over until February 2009. This will also allow the new administration to analyze the situation before further actions are taken. But my two phase plan could solve the problem before the end of 2009 and no further Government action would be required. Please hear me out and leave your comments below!

The power of people

A missing piece of the puzzle that I do believe would be helpful is the appointment of a car Czar. I’m not looking for a government official with no automotive experience to take over this position. In fact, there is one candidate that is uniquely qualified for this position. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Lee Iaccoca. This temporary position would be perfect for this retired, but respected automotive executive. I am sure with the right monetary motivation He could be convinced to take the short-term position.

And yes, you could dream about a hybrid powered Kcar rolling out in the United States automotive market by early 2010. And for those younger car buyers, I’m sure we can get a Carroll Shelby Limited Edition turbo hybrid Kcar for them as well. Lee Iaccoca and Carroll Shelby have a long and successful history together. This reunion could jump start the American car economy all by itself. Never under estimate the power of people.

Celebrities for American cars

My second people powered idea for stopping the big three from requesting more money from taxpayers is to assure their success by exploding sales in 2009. I don’t know why this has been overlooked completely. It is the power of the people that will save the American economy and the automotive industry, along with it. If Jennifer Anniston drives a Chevrolet and tells you to get one as well, people will listen.

If Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt purchased a Chrysler minivan to haul their family around American citizens would follow suit. It is time for our celebrities to give back to the people that have given them everything. We worship our celebrities and model our lives after them, Even if it is at a subconscious level. If Brittany Spears sold all of her Mercedes-Benz cars and bought a Cadillac this would have a tremendous effect on the opinions of the car buying public.

I thank my blog reader for hanging in there for the last two posts. I feel much better now that I have expressed my opinion on this subject that is not only close to my heart but attached to my business as a professional auto mechanic working on American made cars and trucks. Please add your opinions below. Even if you disagree!

My next automotive news post

I have received a lot of e-mails asking me to get back on track with both my electric car conversion project as well as my water 4 gas experiment. In my part of the country gas prices are starting to head back up and so is my motivation for returning to both of these projects. Give this page a bookmark and come back after the holidays. I will have some major updates on my water 4 gas experiments. And you will learn why I think this subject about hydrogen on demand returns big in 2009.

Bailing out the big three has been discussed heavily on the Internet. I seem to have a completely different view on the topic. Possibly due to my position in the auto repair business.

So please forgive this sidebar from the water for gas posts, but I would like to express my side of the story.

Big three bailout full disclosure, I should notify everyone that my skewed opinion might be due to my position as a senior fleet service technician. I work for a large local government fleet operation that purchases Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet light trucks and cars.

The vehicles that we purchase are paid for in full using taxpayer money. As an example in 2009 we are scheduled to replace 2,200 vehicles.

As with most United States Government fleet operations the rule of thumb is to buy American. If the big three were to collapse, then this would not be possible. I cannot imagine taking taxpayer money to buy Nissan and Toyota trucks.

It is true that some of these vehicles are manufactured in the United States. But the profits from the sales of these vehicles go straight back to Japan.

I do not think that the American taxpayer would enjoy directly funding a foreign economy. I’m not sure what the numbers are, but I would figure that a large percentage of sales for the big three come from publicly owned fleets.

Quality of the big three products

For the last three years I have worked on the 2,200 vehicles that we are scheduled to replace. We have had zero engine failures, and only minor problems with these vehicles during their three years and 100,000 miles of exemplary service. In my opinion, the quality level of the products coming out of Detroit has increased tremendously. Unfortunately in the mind of the American car buyer they are still holding a grudge against the poor products produced in the 1980s.

Especially when it comes to light trucks, American quality and even fuel economy competes with the largest and top rated foreign car manufacturing. We have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that is still getting 20 miles per gallon on average. A coworker with a 2004, Nissan pickup truck is averaging around 13 miles per gallon.

Terms of the big three bailout

Big Three Bailout Image

After the most recent meeting between the big three and the big wheels in Washington. It looks like some assistance will be rendered to the American car manufacturing industry. Our County has now mobilized to try to push through the cash purchase of our replacement vehicles to the first quarter of 2009 in an attempt to help bolster sales.

One of the senators had mentioned that the carmaker has proposed some good changes to help them make the manufacturers more profitable. Also with the recent concessions from the United auto workers to help stabilize the American vehicle manufacturing industry.

There may be some great hope for the future. But this senator also made a good second point about the bail out and the plan submitted. The big three included no incentive to car buyers to bring them back to the US-made cars.

This was a tremendous point that needs to be addressed. If we bailout the big three and they streamlined their business to build and produce quality vehicles at a fair price. It will have no effect unless buyers return to the showrooms.

My suggestion is to use some of these bailout funds as a direct tax credit to Americans that purchase American cars. Stimulate sales by stimulating the consumer to purchase directly from the big three.

This is just my opinion. And I would like to hear what you think. Please leave a comment.

My next post will return to the water for gas subject and I will be posting more pictures from the HHO convention that I attended in South Florida. So give this website a bookmark and return to see more pictures and information about my water for gas project.

Toyota parts now made in the United States? Many of us already know that Toyota Corporation builds many popular car models inside the United States. This is not a new development, as in many import car companies are manufacturing vehicles in the United States for many reasons.

The bottom line is that the car manufacturer will have increased profits on vehicles sold and manufactured inside the United States as opposed to vehicles that are built and imported from foreign countries. This is mainly due to high shipping costs and heavy import taxes.

But what I didn’t understand was where the parts came from. I was under the impression that the parts were manufactured in Japan, and then shipped to the United States for assembly. This is only a half-truth.

My investigation of Toyota parts!

My girlfriend has a 2002 Toyota Corolla. It was time to replace the original serpentine drive belt on her vehicle, due to heavy cracking of the now six-year-old belt. After being very disappointed with the quality of the after market dayco belt I decided to buy a factory original Toyota part. I expected this part, to have come from Japan. When the parts counter man handed me the belt, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall thickness and quality of this factory original part.

The belt was packaged in a sleeve that indicated it was a genuine Toyota part. And even included Japanese writing on it. But on the belt itself, it said made in the USA. I was blown away and asked the parts man if this was true. He indicated that not only was the belt made in the United States, but also that it was shipped to Japan for replacement purposes on foreign operated vehicles. I think that this is very important for people to know that even though foreign cars made outside of the U.S. do not add to American jobs that foreign parts manufacturing does.

More Toyota parts news

I came across a news story that indicated a major U.S. automotive parts supplier would build a $40 million dollar plant in northern Mississippi. These facilities will manufacturer stamped and welded steel parts for Toyota vehicles.

This new manufacturing plant will be billed as the primary supplier of metal body parts, chassis parts and plastic injection parts to the US automotive industry. The new plant in Mississippi, about 35 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee is expected to have 200 new employees dedicated to supplying Toyotas American-based assembly plants.

I used to be a strong supporter of buying American cars, and I myself own a Chevrolet. But as time goes on the line is being blurred of what is American-made and what is not. There is no question that many Toyotas are built in this country and now we can say that parts are also being manufactured for these vehicles in the United States and shipped overseas as replacement parts.

Gas caps will be a thing of the past as Ford Motor Company takes the lead and has begun to make good on a 2006 promise to get rid of the gas caps on its entire model lineup. Doing away with the pesky lids, which often wind up left on trunks or fenders or even dangling from cars as they fly down freeways. This project moves forward in the new 2009 F150 pickup truck. The quick refueling system is already on the 2008 Ford Explorer.

Ford’s top-selling F 150 will also have this new system, which was unveiled at the North American international auto show. It will be in your local showrooms and ford dealerships this fall. This new feature is also coming to the 2009 crossover vehicle the Lincoln MKS luxury sedan.

This new feature may not cause people to buy the trucks, but it is something that they will appreciate every time you fill up. The quick fueling system that was inspired by Ford’s NASCAR racing experience first appeared on the 2003 Ford GT sports car with rave reviews. Now every body can feel like the refueling chief on a race car pit crew.

How do you fill a fuel tank without a gas cap?

The race car inspired system has two small spring-loaded tabs that pull back a flap inside the fuel filler neck as the fuel-pumping nozzle hits them. When the nozzle is pulled out a flap closes and seals the fuel filler neck automatically. Besides the convenience factor of the cap less system, there are some environmental benefits as well. The quick opening and then re-closing of the fuel filler neck allows a reduction in the escape of gasoline vapors, which is bad for the ozone and the environment.

This gas cap less fuel filling system ends another common problem that occurs when a gas cap is not screwed on tightly enough. The dreaded check engine light that appears on the dashboard because of a fuel vapor leak will be a thing of the past. The integrity or the ability of the fuel system to hold pressure is tested by the vehicles PCM on every startup in case you where wondering.

If the you are further curious about things that turn on the service engine light you can visit my updated page about common causes of the check engine light. Also note that these are things you can fix yourself.

Finding a discount for all the services that you’ll need on a daily basis is definitely challenging, and when you’re looking for low car insurance, you’ll want to know all the places that offer affordable insurance with great features. Here are some of the features you should be looking for when it comes to low car insurance in order to help you save money and time.

One of the things you should look for when you’re trying to find insurance for your motor vehicle is the duration of your policy. In most cases, you will have to renew your policy every year, but you can find shorter, temporary policies that will give you the option of switching your insurance to another company if you are unsatisfied within a few months. You may even be eligible for insurance policies as a benefit of your employment, so be sure to check with your boss for more details.

The features your car insurance company has to offer will also help you to make your decision. For instance, are you looking for insurance for your motorcycle, boat, or a second car? Do you also want health insurance or life insurance from your motor vehicle insurance company? If so, you can find a number of companies, such as AIG and All State, that will give you an insurance package that will cover all the insurance that you need.

The benefits that are available to you when you have an insurance policy is also important; Direct Insurance, as well as GMAC and Geico offer features like incentives for safe drivers, accidental damage coverage and even new car replacement if you happen to be in an accident and you are no longer able to drive your car. Your car insurance company may also have medical insurance coverage if you need to go the hospital or extend a hospital stay due to an automobile accident.

If you log on to sites like progressive or esurance, you can compare cheap car insurance prices side by side and even purchase your policy online. If you are currently enrolled in school or a new driver, there are plenty of options for you as well. Low car insurance is dependent upon the features that you need in your insurance policy, but these sites (as well as the companies listed above) will most likely have a policy that will work well for you and your family.
