I thought I'd just throw this out there. But alot of times mechanics like to get the cars towed to their location, and I just found out that U-haul sells out their old rental equipment, including their car carriers! I would highly recommend it!

Great article! I'd like to see more people in our industry shedding light on how complex today's automobiles are. I think it would garner more respect for technicians, and I think it would help consumers understand that it's not as simple as "hooking it up to the computer." While the underhood technology has progressed substantially in the last few decades, the industry's consumer education and marketing campaigns have not kept pace.

I write a lot about cars but I leave the work to my automotive mechanic. Cars have gotten so complicated over the years and I certainly do not have the equipment on hand to keep up with everything.

When I find a good mechanic, I'm a loyal customer and will refer friends, family members and neighbors to them.

I appreciate the ongoing learning required -- I cannot imagine what training costs are these days.

Auto technicians have it hard now-a-days. They get criticized for repairs, scrutinized for work & thats all before they even get to work under the dirty vehicle. We have been in the auto industry for over 40 years and believe me, every day is just as hard as the last
